Silvestre de Sousa, the rider of In The Breeze (IRE), was unseated shortly after leaving the stalls.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by In The Breeze (IRE) stumbling badly when leaving the stalls resulting in de Sousa being unseated.
Passing the winning post on the first circuit, Napper Tandy (GB), placed third, ridden by William Buick, was severely hampered by the riderless In The Breeze (IRE) when the gelding improved on the inside forcing Buick to take a check between In The Breeze (IRE) and Arabian Warrior (GB), placed fourth, resulting in Arabian Warrior (GB) being carried off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately 5 furlongs out, Pat Cosgrave, the rider of the winner, Sea Appeal (IRE), was forced to take a check off the heels of the riderless In The Breeze (IRE) resulting in William Buick, the rider of Napper Tandy (GB), placed third, and Hollie Doyle, the rider of Arabian Warrior (GB), placed fourth, having to steady their mounts, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Arabian Warrior (GB), which started second favourite and finished placed fourth, was considered.
The representative of Saeed bin Suroor could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than that Hollie Doyle had reported that Arabian Warrior (GB) had been inconvenienced several times by the riderless In The Breeze (IRE).
