Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The winner, Le Ligerien (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 10 December 2021 where the mare finished eighth of ten runners, beaten by 38 ¼ lengths.
The representative of Philip Hobbs explained that Le Ligerien (FR) had jumped with far more fluency on this occasion and had benefitted greatly from that.
Their comments were noted.
The performance of Galop De Chasse (FR) which started favourite before being pulled up during the race, was considered.
Venetia Williams could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than the report from the rider, Charlie Deutsch that Galop De Chasse (FR) was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Galop De Chasse (FR) during routine testing revealed the gelding to have an irregular heartbeat.
