Following the race, Kieran O’Neill reported that Hidden Dream (IRE), placed second, hung right-handed and George Wood reported that Cheng Gong (GB), placed third, was never travelling.
The winner Affluence, appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newbury on 25 June 2019 where the gelding finished eleventh of fourteen, beaten 20 ½ lengths.
Martin Smith’s explanation that Affluence appreciated the return to Good to Firm going after finishing unplaced on Good to Soft last time, was noted.
Kieran O’Neill, the rider of Hidden Dream (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from approximately two furlongs out.
