Permission was given for both Derwent Boy (GB) and Rhythm (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after leaving the stalls, involving Derwent Boy (GB), placed second, ridden by Ryan Sexton, Grey Force One (GB), unplaced, ridden by Aiden Brookes and Round The Island (GB), unplaced, ridden by Andrew Breslin.
Sexton was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed towards the rail, when insufficiently clear, causing Brookes to take a strong check on Grey Force One (GB), which resulted in Round The Island (GB) being short of room for several strides.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after turning into the home straight, involving Round The Island (GB), unplaced, ridden by Andrew Breslin, Mighty Power (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Christian Howarth and Grey Force One (GB), unplaced, ridden by Aiden Brookes.
Breslin was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Mighty Power (IRE) to be checked, which in turn caused Grey Force One (GB) to be taken off its intended line.
The winner, Havana Pursuit (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ripon on 05 September 2023, where the gelding finished eighth of eleven runners, beaten by 11 ½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Tim Easterby could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Mark's Choice (IRE), placed fifth, was slowly away.
Andrew Breslin reported that Round The Island (GB), unplaced, suffered interference shortly after the start.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Derwent Boy (GB), placed second, was showing signs of heat stress.
