An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, Executive Force (GB), ridden by John Egan, interfered with Forbidden Planet (GB), placed second, ridden by Ryan Moore, which in turn interfered with Central City (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Stevie Donohoe, which in turn interfered with Wimpole Hall (GB), placed third, ridden by Cieren Fallon.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Fallon was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Executive Force (GB)’s placing as the interference was minimal and the distance lost by the horses involved in the interference was not greater than the neck, 1 ½ lengths, and neck, by which they were beaten.
Egan was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed without timely correction, taking Forbidden Planet (GB) off its intended line, which caused Donohoe on its inside to stop riding momentarily, and Fallon to take a precautionary check against the rail.
