Barry McHugh, the rider of Zac Brown (IRE), was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, McHugh’s explanation that the gelding ducked its head as the stalls opened making him miss on his first attempt to remove the blindfold was noted.
Jason Watson, the rider of the winner, Cent Flying (GB), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from approximately 2 furlongs out.
Following the race, Liam Keniry reported that Spanish Star (IRE), placed eighth, ran too free, Cieren Fallon reported that The Lamplighter (FR), placed seventh, was denied a clear run for a sustained period and Toby Eley reported that Swanton Blue (IRE), placed fifth, hung left-handed.
