An enquiry was held to consider why Maurice Barnes was running Victory Echo (IRE) here at Perth on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Market Rasen on 05 June 2024 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that in his opinion the Going at Market Rasen was riding slower than ideal for Victory Echo (IRE) after rainfall.
On the run in, the winner, Cardamon Hill (IRE) hung left-handed giving a bump to Cap Du Nord (FR), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Cardamon Hill (IRE).
Following the race, Christian Williams reported that General Probus (GB), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the Going on this occasion, officially described as Good to Firm and would benefit from a slower surface; The Veterinary Officer reported that Victory Echo (IRE), which was pulled up, was lame right-fore and that Giovanni Change (FR), which was pulled up, had several lacerations to its left- hind.
