Permission was given for Coiled (IRE) to go early to post, wearing a red hood; and for Hettie Jack (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

Coiled (IRE) unseated Charles Bishop on the way to post and the gelding was then led to post, resulting in this race being late off.

Having been checked by the Doctor at the start, Bishop was deemed fit to race.

Inside the final ½ furlong, I Love Dad (IRE), placed third, lugged left-handed, causing Ashen Glow (IRE), placed fourth, to shy away to the left and give a bump to Coiled (IRE), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of I Love Dad (IRE).

An enquiry was held to consider why Clay Shoveler (GB), trained by David Evans, was mounted in the saddling boxes.

After being interviewed, the representative of David Evans’s explanation that due to the horse’s behaviour they had taken it into the saddling box to mount, and that he was unaware of the rule that horses may not be mounted in the saddling boxes, was noted.

The representative was asked to remind Evans that horses may not be mounted in the saddling boxes or in the stables.
