Pink Crystal (IRE) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start.
Permission was given for Azure Blue (IRE) to wear a red hood and go early to post and for Purosangue (GB) and Significantly (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Permission was also given for Quinault (GER) to be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out when Twilight Calls (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Trevor Whelan interfered with Azure Blue (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Egan.
Whelan was cautioned for careless riding as he shifted left-handed giving a slight bump to Azure Blue (IRE).
The performance of Azure Blue (IRE) which finished last of eight runners, beaten 53 lengths, was considered.
Michael Dods’ explanation that the mare was unsuited by having lost a shoe shortly after leaving the stalls, on the rain softened ground, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Soft in places, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer examined the mare post-race and reported that it had lost its left- fore shoe.
