Wheels Up had the form to win this and put in a fine performance to win. Always prominent, he moved through to lead at the fifth, jumed well and made the rest for a comfortable ten length win. According to trainer Christy Roche, Wheels Up is only a slight possibility for another run over hurdles this season before going chasing next season. He mentioned "if he doesn't make a nice chaser I'd be very surprised. Hurdles are almost too small for him but he doesn't like the ground too heavy."

Ballydungmanor was the only rival to get any sort of blow, racing to join the winner briefly before the straight before being unable to quicken, staying on at the one pace in second. He probably ran to his 99 rating and looks well capable of winning a race.

Storm Plan made an encouraging reappearance following a long layoff and can pick up a handicap at some stage while a similar comment applies to both Carrig Caul and Ballymahon, who were making their hurdle debuts. Point to point winner Lisabbey Lord has shown ability in the past and will now be interesting, now that he qualifies for handicaps.

Point to point winner I Will Ya was the subject of a running and riding enquiry on his penultimate start but has now shown very little on his latest two starts. However he cannot be written off yet while dual bumper winner Flowonlovelyriver was pulled up quickly before the fourth and his rider reported the gelding to be hanging badly in running.
