Permission was given for Papa Don't Preach (IRE) to go early to post.
George Rooke, the rider of Danzart (IRE), drawn 8, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow away.
Rooke’s explanation that the blindfold was stuck, taking three attempts to remove was noted.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, a very free running Fortunate Star (IRE), unplaced, had to be restrained and taken back off the heels of Showalong (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Zargun (GER), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 14 March 2024 where the gelding finished ninth of ten runners, beaten by 13 lengths.
Scott Dixon’s explanation that the gelding had benefited from a return to turf, particularly on a slower surface, officially described as Soft on this occasion was noted.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Violets Star (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed.
Harrison Shaw reported that Fortunate Star (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
George Rooke reported that the blindfold had got stuck in the bridle of Danzart (IRE), unplaced, and the gelding was slowly away as a result.
