A gruelling finish to this one in which only the last 50 yards could separate the winner Conna Castle and long time leader Big Zeb who led for the other two and a half miles or so. Big Zeb was sent out to bowl along in front by Davy Russell and he is just proving to be a very unlucky sort as he was just narrowly denied here by half a length.
Over a furlong shorter than when he suffered a similar fate at Leopardstown last month, Big Zeb again failed to keep his head in front and a slow jump at the second last gave Conna Castle an opportunity to go on but they were upsides at the last and Conna Castle rallied under pressure to claim a tenth career win.
Aintree is now on the agenda for the nine-year-old, a track at where he was second behind Straw Bear back in his hurdling days.
There was a gap of 13 lengths back to Oscar Honey who ran creditably and gave her owner Rose Davidson a good spin around despite one anxious moment a mile out and there should be plenty of suitable winnable races with this one on similar ground.
While Sky's The Limit was a further eight lengths back and despite being up there until the turn in, he was the first to come under serious urgings and he soon faded to disappointingly trail in the four rivals who went without Drunken Disorderly, a non runner following his exploits 24 hours earlier.
