The Stewards interviewed M.P. Walsh, rider of Riviera Sun, concerning his use of the whip after this race where he appeared to strike the horse down the shoulder. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 214 in that he rode improperly and having considered his clean record, severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
