- Stewards Report
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately half a furlong out when Born To Destroy (GB), placed second, ridden by Stevie Donohoe, interfered with Onassis (IRE), placed third, ridden by David Probert.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Born To Destroy (GB) as the momentum lost by Onassis (IRE), when having to switch left- handed, cost the filly more than the neck by which she was beaten, and Onassis (IRE) was making rapid headway on the second on the run to the line.
The placings were revised as follows: Second, Onassis (IRE), Third, Born To Destroy (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Born To Destroy (GB) had lugged quickly right-handed before being corrected by Donohoe.
The winner, Cheat (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on 22 August 2019, where the colt finished nineteenth of 21, beaten by 24 lengths.
The representative of Richard Hannon explained that Cheat (IRE) had benefitted from a slightly longer break having run at York only 8 days after his previous run at Salisbury on Soft ground; his explanation was noted.
