Permission was given for Bugle Major (USA) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only, be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
The performance of THE CITY’S PHANTOM, which started second-favourite and finished unplaced, beaten by 36¼ lengths, was considered.
It was noted that Richard Spencer could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion other than a report from the rider that THE CITY’S PHANTOM stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
