An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 6 furlongs out, when King Of Tonga (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Shane Gray interfered with Tilsitt (FR), placed third, ridden by Paddy Mathers.
Gray was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had shifted left towards the rail when insufficiently clear, causing Mathers to take a check.
Following the race, Shane Gray reported that King Of Tonga (IRE) ran too free in the early stages; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of King Of Tonga (IRE), failed to reveal any abnormalities.
