An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final half a furlong involving the winner, Tawaareq (IRE), ridden by P J McDonald; Basilicata (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Franny Norton and Man Of The Night (FR), placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer.
McDonald was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left under a right-handed drive causing Basilicata (IRE) to be checked and bumping Man Of The Night (FR), causing that colt to become unbalanced.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Tawaareq (IRE)’s placing as by drifting left, the gelding had bumped and unbalanced Man Of The Night (FR), which stayed on to be beaten by a nose at the line.
The placings were revised as follows: First - Man Of The Night (FR); Second – Tawaareq (IRE); Third – Maiden Castle (GB) and Fourth – Tenbury Wells (USA).
