An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Talking About You (GB), ridden by Callum Shepherd and trained by Mick Channon, which was settled at the rear of the field before continuing at the one pace under apparent tender handling to finish seventh, beaten by 5 ¼ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
Shepherd stated that his instructions were to get the filly to finish her race as Talking About You (GB) had not shown much in her previous two starts.
He added that he had tried to get the filly to relax as she had been quite buzzy on the way to post but that he had ended up further back in the field than he would have wished, having taken off the heels of Calamity May (GB) which was racing greenly in front.
He further stated that he had asked Talking About You (GB) for an effort down the hill but that she had not handled the bend all that well, and having felt she was not gaining the rest of the field he had given her a hands and heels ride up the straight.
He also added that he felt Talking About You (GB) would likely need a longer trip in time.
His explanation was noted.
Subsequently, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Talking About You (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
