Following the race, Harry Skelton reported that Al Shahir (IRE) made a bad mistake at the fourth last fence and he therefore pulled the gelding up; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Al Shahir (IRE), during routine testing, revealed the gelding had bled from the nose, lost its right hind shoe and finished sore on its right hind.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that the winner, As You Like (IRE), lost its right hind shoe.
