Mr Gearoid Harney, the rider of Way Out (IRE), placed third, was suspended for 2 days, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, for using his whip with his arm above shoulder height from inside the final 3 furlongs.
Being a 7lb claiming amateur, Harney was accompanied in the enquiry by a jockey coach.
Approaching 1½ furlongs out, Blue Fin (IRE), placed second, lugged quickly left-handed before being corrected by its rider, badly hampering Way Out (IRE), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Blue Fin (IRE).
