W.J. Lee, rider of Retinal, trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran keen early on and emptied quickly thereafter. P.J. Smullen, rider of Burma Star (GB), trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount got caught wide throughout and did not finish well thereafter. The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Jaqen H'Ghar, ridden by D. O'Brien, placed first and Hint Of Frost, ridden by S. Foley, unplaced, where it appeared Hint Of Frost ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Mrs. A.M. O'Brien, representing A.P. O'Brien, trainer and master of D. O'Brien. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action.
An extended handicap for two yrs old only (75 = 9st 10lb)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 75 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 75 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
