I was a little scared of the ground but the two miles didn't worry me and it was a good performance; he's a good horse. It was a competitive race and they went a good gallop and he showed his staying power. P. Townend, rider of Daneking (GB), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on the ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Daneking (GB), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

A hurdle race for five yrs old and upwards which, at entry, are rated 140 or less
Weights - 5-y-o 10st 13lb; 6-y-o and up 11st 1lb
Penalties - Performances before 20th January for every 1lb above the rating of 135 1lb extra; On or after 20th January for each hurdle race won 4lb extra; Horses that have not run three times over hurdles and/or do not have a published handicap hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances are rated 140 or less.
