The first time blinkers did the trick for In The High Grass, who held off the late challenge of He's On His Way.

Settled in behind he leaders he improved to chase the leader four out and hit the front approaching the second last. Adrian Joyce kept him up to his work on the run-in to land the spoils.

The winner was racing over three miles for the first time and seemed to get the trip well, although the early pace probably wasn't the hottest.

Trainer Tom Taaffe revealed afterwards that his charge would travel to Aintree for the Topham Chase. The Straffan handler had wanted to run in the National but the gelding is unlikely to get in.

He's On His Way looks like he would have preferred more of a stamina test.

Outpaced as they quickened before the fourth last he stayed on into contention again two out. He plugged on close home to press the winner.

Tawnies jumped superbly in the lead but found little when tackled by the winner approaching two out and was soon beaten.

O'Muircheartaigh was held up along with the winner. He looked a threat turning for home but found nothing before the second last. Robbie Power stood up before the last.
