An ultra impressive performance here by Dante Hall whose winning margin of a length and a quarter was a scarce reflection on the manner in which he landed this three-mile contest.
Tommy Stack's charge was not making any impression when falling at the second last in the Grand National Trial at Punchestown last time out but had been a facile winner prior to that over 2m5f at Fairyhouse.
He generally jumped well apart from the sixth when he jumped left and collided with Valentia Lady who jumped to her right and subsequently unseated Andrew McNamara.
Mark Walsh sent his mount to the front at the second last from Judge Deed and the three-pound claiming rider who is the regular partner of this seven-year-old could afford to ease his mount down after the last.
He's On His Way won the battle for the minor honours from Judge Deed and that pair drew clear of the disappointing Notable D'Estruval back in fourth.
Tommy Stack's son Fozzy revealed afterwards that the winner will be kept to novice company next time around before returning to run in handicaps and the Irish National would be on the agenda for next year rather than the upcoming one later this month.
