The winner, JOHNSON’S BLUE (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Fakenham on 1 January 2023 where the gelding finished sixth of fifteen, beaten by 23½ lengths.
The representative of Mark Walford’s explanation that JOHNSON’S BLUE (IRE) benefited from the return to 3 miles on this occasion, was noted.

The representative of Harriet Graham and Gary Rutherford’s explanation that the gelding was never travelling and that the race may have come too for Brandy Mcqueen (IRE) having ran at Musselburgh 13 days ago, was noted.
