The winner, Blu Cavalier (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Ascot on 23 November 2019, where the gelding finished last of six, beaten 41½ lengths.
Ali Stronge’s representative explained that Blu Cavalier (GB) had stripped fitter from its seasonal reappearance, having had 7 months off previous to that run.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Curramore (IRE), which finished sixth of eight, was considered.
Lucy Normile could offer no explanation other than the gelding was possibly unsuited by the lack of pace on this occasion.

Following the race, Tom Bellamy reported that Scarlet Dragon (GB), unplaced, ran too free and Ciaran Gethings reported that Faro De Kerser (FR), unplaced, lost its action in the closing stages and he therefore felt it prudent to ease the gelding; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Faro De Kerser (FR) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
