The Starter reported that Exalted Leader (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Edward Bethell was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Exalted Leader (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Upon leaving the stalls, Stay Smart (GB), placed fifth, jumped right-handed, carrying Obtuse (IRE), placed second, onto Rhode Island Girl (GB), placed eighth, which was hampered and in turn crowded Kevin The Minion (GB), placed sixth, onto Global Vision (IRE), placed third, causing it to be checked after also being crowded by Exalted Leader (GB), placed fourth, which edged left at the same time, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Stay Smart (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the final bend involving Global Vision (IRE), ridden by Tom Eaves and Rhode Island Girl (GB), ridden by Sean Davis.
Davis was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred right-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Eaves to be significantly checked in his run on Global Vision (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately ¾ of a furlong out involving Donny Marlow (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Dougie Costello; Obtuse (IRE), ridden by Pierre-Louis Jamin; the winner, The Hulk (GB) (IRE), ridden by Rossa Ryan and Stay Smart (GB), ridden by David Nolan.
The interference was found to be accidental as Obtuse (IRE) had hung quickly right-handed away from The Hulk (GB), crowding Donny Marlow (IRE) onto Stay Smart (GB), turning the hindquarters of that colt, causing it to shift sharply left-handed, which then resulted in Donny Marlow (IRE) having to be severely checked by its rider.
On the run to the line Global Vision (IRE), lugged left-handed before being quickly corrected by its rider, resulting in Kevin The Minion (GB), being eased when tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Global Vision (IRE).
