Permission was given for Precision Storm (GB) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries and for Quarry Beach (GB) to be led to post early.
Hollie Doyle, the rider of Mr Coco Bean (USA), drawn 8, was slow to remove the blindfold, which resulted in her mount being slowly away.
Doyle’s explanation that the gelding had ducked his head to the right as the start was effected, causing her to require a second attempt in order to successfully remove the blindfold was noted.
The winner, Nawar (GB) appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Lingfield on 29 October 2020 where the gelding finished twelfth of fourteen runners, beaten by 10½ lengths.
Martin Bosely explained that Nawar (GB) had stripped fitter for its reappearance run after a 286-day break.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Sam James reported that Guvenor's Choice (IRE), unplaced, moved poorly in the home straight; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding was found to be lame on its right-fore and Hollie Doyle reported that Mr Coco Bean (USA), unplaced, hung right-handed; the Veterinary Officer added that the gelding lost its right-fore shoe.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that Quarry Beach (GB), unplaced, also lost its right-fore shoe.
