The Veterinary Officer reported that Alphabetical (GB), trained by Sir Mark Prescott Bt, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance on the left jugular vein.
The Trainer’s representative and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Prescott’s representative’s explanation that Alphabetical (GB) had been administered sodium iodide intravenously on 28 June 2020 was noted.
Being satisfied that the colt had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Alphabetical (GB) to run, and ordered the colt to be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
