Permission was given for The Golden Cue (GB) to go early to post.

An enquiry was held into the circumstances surrounding the false start in this race.

The Starters, the Clerk of the Course, representing the Racecourse Executive, and Gabriele Malune, the rider of Sir Ottoman (FR), were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.

Having heard the Starters’ evidence, it was noted that several runners drawn wide had anticipated the start whilst his flag was raised and that the stalls had broken open without him effecting the start, therefore a false start was called due to a faulty action of the stalls.

Being satisfied that all correct procedures had been followed, no further action was taken.

However, a report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority as the incident was deemed to have been caused by a malfunction of the stalls.

Leaving the stalls, Falcao (IRE), placed sixth, jumped awkwardly and shifted right onto the winner, Katheefa (USA), which in turn hampered SHEPHERD’S PURSE, placed fifth, which in turn bumped Rasheeq (IRE), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Leaving the stalls, Sir Ottoman (FR), placed third, jumped right hampering Pushkin Museum (IRE), placed eighth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Sir Ottoman (FR).

Following the race, Toby Eley reported that The Golden Cue (GB), placed seventh, stumbled leaving the stalls and was never travelling.
