The winner, Gieves (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wincanton on 5 April 2023, where the gelding finished third of nine, beaten by 18 ¾ lengths.
The representative of Ben Pauling’s explanation that Gieves (IRE) benefitted from the application of a first time hood and being ridden more patiently on this occasion was noted.
Gieves (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Go On Ya Goodthing (IRE), placed second, lost its right hind shoe and The Geordie Ginge (IRE), placed third, lost both front shoes.
