Permission was given for Granary Queen (IRE) to go early to post.
The winner, Almost An Angel (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Redcar on 18 June 2021 where the gelding finished sixth of ten, beaten by 10 lengths.
David Evans’ representative’s explanation that the race at Redcar may have come too soon and the gelding had improved for the subsequent 21 day break, was noted.
Almost An Angel (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Sunset (GB) which started favourite and finished fourth, was considered.
Richard Hannon’s representative’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the undulations at Chepstow and would appreciate further in distance, was noted.
Following the race, William Cox reported that TELL’EM NOWT, placed last of seven, ran too free and his saddle slipped forward.
Darragh Keenan reported that Luxy Lou (IRE), placed second, was denied a clear run 2½ furlongs out.
