Tremblant (GB), trained by Amy Murphy was late into the Parade Ring, due to difficulty fitting the tongue strap and the gelding then being reluctant to leave the stable yard.
Inside 1½ furlongs out, Minnesota Lad (IRE), placed fourth, hung slightly right-handed, briefly leaving Hallowed Time (IRE), unplaced, short of room, causing that gelding to become unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Minnesota Lad (IRE).
Approximately ¾ of a furlong out, Tremblant (GB), placed second, hung quickly right-handed into the whip, causing the rider of Minnesota Lad, placed fourth, to take a check, which in turn hampered Hallowed Time (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Tremblant (GB).
The winner, Grant Wood (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on 25 May 2024, where the gelding finished eleventh of eighteen, beaten 9½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Paul Midgley could offer no explanation for Grant Wood (IRE)’s improved form other than the gelding may have benefitted from dropping back in trip to 6 furlongs on this occasion.
