Tim Easterby had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Delgrey Boy (GB) partially shod.
Permission was given for Piece Of History (IRE), One Small Step (IRE) and Noble Patron (IRE) to all wear a red hood to post.
Approaching 1½ furlongs out, One Small Step (IRE), placed fourth, was forced to switch right-handed around a weakening Noble Patron (IRE), unplaced, causing it to make contact and turn the hindquarters of Star Shield (GB), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Noble Patron (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Simon & Ed Crisford reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Good to Firm going on this occasion and would be more suited by an easier surface.
Following the race, Martin Dwyer reported that One Small Step (IRE), placed fourth, was denied a clear run.
