An enquiry was held into the running and riding of CALLIOPE, ridden by Conor O'Farrell and trained by Kenneth Slack, which was tenderly ridden at the rear of the field, before being asked for an effort leaving the back straight to finish eighth, beaten 28 ½ lengths. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race endoscopic examination revealed the mare had scoped dirty. The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and stated that his instructions were to drop the mare in and to try to get her to settle and to ride his race from there on. He added that the trainer was running CALLIOPE in a hood in an attempt to help her to settle, and he was unable to carry out those instructions because the mare was running freely and hung left from leaving the back straight when under pressure, a fact which O'Farrell had reported at Scales. Being satisfied that CALLIOPE had obtained the best possible placing, O'Farrell's explanation was noted.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing, of LESTER KRIS (IRE), placed third, revealed the gelding had lost its left fore shoe and had a small wound to its left fore leg and further reported that that START SEVEN, unplaced, lost its right fore shoe.
