The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Optimism And Hope, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth, Orangey Red, ridden by L.F. Roche, placed third,Spinamiss, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first and Wreckless, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fourth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that both C.D.Hayes and L.F.Roche were in breach of Rule 214, in that they rode carelessly and having considered their records they were suspended for one race day. W.J. Lee, rider of Optimism And Hope trained by T. Stack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference in running. L.F. Roche, rider of Orangey Red trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran green.
