I think it was a very fair decision and I would have been very disappointed if they didn't change it around,. The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Encosta, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, Enthralling, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed sixth, and Mo Ghille Mar, ridden by K.G. Kennedy, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. T. Keane stated that he received bad interference and felt he was on the best horse. G. M

Ryan stated that he received bad interference from his right causing him to clip a heel and he felt he was lucky to stay up. K. G. Kennedy stated that his mount drifted left but he felt he had done all he could to prevent interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mo Ghille Mar had caused interference to Encosta and Enthralling and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position and they therefore demoted Mo Ghille Mar from first place and placed it behind Enthralling. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards amended the result to read as follows: Amended Result: First: Encosta Second: Cleopatra's Needle Third: You Owe Me Money Fourth: Queenie St Clair Fifth: Enthralling Sixth: Mo Ghille Mar Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that K. The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Mrs John Harrington, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Mo Ghille Mar, placed first (placed sixth after demotion(see enquiry report)), as compared with its last run at Leopardstown on April seventh. Mrs. John Harrington, trainer, stated that the filly was found to have pulled muscles after her last run, which was reported to the IHRB office.
