Rounding the bend entering the backstraight, West Orchard (IRE), which later ran out, hung violently left-handed slightly hampering Voyburg (IRE), placed fifth, and Demothi (IRE), placed fourth, who were racing on its outside, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of West Orchard (IRE) which had ran out at the fifth hurdle.
Joe Tizzard was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As the gelding had also been unruly at Fontwell on 6th February 2023, TIzzard was informed that any future similar behaviour from West Orchard (IRE) may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The performance of Dark Duomo (IRE) which finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Phillip Hobbs reported that the gelding was unsuited by the going and trip on this occasion, officially described as GOOD, GOOD to SOFT in places over 2m 5f, and would benefit from a slower surface and a step up in trip, was noted.
