FormscanBy Alan Magee - The mile handicap won by Global Energy at Listowel last month looks a key piece of form in the context of this race as the Sheila Lavery-trained gelding beat ORANDI by under a length with Monasterboice back in third. The selection won on soft ground at the Curragh in May and continued a consistent run of form when again second at Naas last weekend, while the booking of Sam Coen leaves him on a nice racing weight. Alessia Fernanda was unlucky in running when bidding to follow up a Cork win again over a mile at the Curragh earlier this month, but has a lot more on her plate now off this revised rating.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards (95 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.

I'm delighted. He had a little problem, we solved it, and he's just got better and better,. I have to thank Ted Durcan because, even though he's won over a mile-four and a mile-two, he just reckoned he wasn't staying and to drop him back to a mile. I did and he just loved it out there. . Robbie said he wasn't going to let anyone by him, that he was just having a ball up front. . I put him in the Hunt Cup at Ascot, John loves having runners there. He was too low in the handicap, I don't know what he'll get for this and I don't know if he'll get enough to squeak in. . That opens up loads of options though.

He is buzzy, is a work in progress and it took a while to get his head right. We always thought he was a decent horse, he is a half-brother to Power Under Me (Group 3 winner) but he boiled over the last day in the Curragh. We had to get his head right but at the Curragh there were a few other issues that back-fired.

She has had some good runs all summer and she tries hard every day. She is a grand filly, deserved that and the ground was a little quick for her the last day but she still ran a good race. She was back a furlong in distance today and won nicely. To win with 10st1lb always takes a bit of doing, no matter what the grade, and we're delighted with her. Ben (Curtin) has had horses with us for years, had a winner with us at Galway last year so it is lovely to get another for him.
