Review listowel 14th Sep
< Lagostovegas was given a late scare but stayed on her upward curve with victory in the Ladbrokes Ireland Handicap Hurdle at Listowel.
The mare had already won two races, as well as finishing third twice at the Galway Festival, since joining Willie Mullins earlier in the year, and she cruised to the front after jumping three out.
The 5-2 favourite looked set for an easy victory, but Davids Charm got to within striking distance and the line only just came in time for Lagostovegas, who held on by a neck.
Mullins also struck when Coquin Mans had to work harder than expected to land odds of 1-4 in the Island (Q.R.) Race.
The exciting jumping prospect travelled strongly to the front a furlong and a half out but Ask Susan wouldn't go away and Patrick Mullins had to get serious on the market leader for him to oblige by two and a quarter lengths.
The champion trainer went on to enjoy a treble when even-money favourite Ben Button completed a hat-trick in the Devon Inn Hotel Handicap Hurdle.
Sean Flanagan produced Une Lavandiere to lead approaching the final obstacle in the Kevin McManus Beginners Chase, only for the mare to get it all wrong.
However, Noel Meade's 11-4 joint-favourite stayed on her feet and regained her momentum to fend off Red River Gold by half a length.< Highland Fling hammered his opponents in the Behans Horseshoe Bar & Restaurant Handicap.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained 9-2 shot strode to the head of affairs on the home turn and powered clear to dispose of the staying-on Oiche Mhaith Boy by two and a half lengths.< Brazos (9-2) broke through in the MAC Fuels & General Supplies Maiden, while The Last Indian (100-30 favourite) completed a hat-trick in the Byrne Family Handicap and Kupa River (9-4) turned the Follow Listowel Races On Twitter Maiden into a procession.
