Noel Meade brought up a Downpatrick double courtesy of Pat Garrett the 5/2 favourite in The Bingo Handicap Steeplechase.

“He’s such a big horse that next year he might be stronger. It wasn’t a great race, but two mile two might be his trip as we thought he was just running out of petrol in his races. It’s the first time the owners haven’t been to see him,” Noel Meade reported.

The six-year-old gelding travelled well to get on terms at the fifth last. Davy Condon sent him clear from the last whereupon he walked across the line, three lengths in hand over Old Supporter at 4/1.

There was another seven lengths back to Araglen Lad in third at 12/1 for James Lambe and Robbie Colgan.

Meade had landed the previous race with 7/4 favourite Ipsos Du Berlais The double paid just over 8.5/1.
