Joey Sasa justified his short price in the JP Corry Building Suppliers Hurdle at Downpatrick with a cosy success in the two-mile two-furlong contest.
Noel Meade 's charge, who finished a fine fourth in the Galway Hurdle on his return to action in early August, was sent to post a 4/7 shot to gain a fourth career victory.
Jonathan Moore tracked the front-runner Peace News on the hotpot before edging to the front three from home.
Joey Sasa has his rivals beaten going to the last and only had to be shaken up briefly on the run-in. He was easing down going to the line to record a six length victory.
"He was a couple of pounds well in with the other horse (Peace News). The other horse was rated on a run that he hasn't run up to for a while," said Meade.
"We'll probably go for one of those good handicaps. The ground is usually very heavy at Ascot for their big handicap hurdle so it's probably unlikely he will go there. It's more likely he will go to Fairyhouse.
"He won't go over fences this year, that's not the plan."
