Carberry forces Looby to victory

Sun 11th Oct 2009, 18:19

Oscar Looby made the running until six out and after dropping to fifth after the third last, supporters of the favourite would have been forgiven for tearing up their tickets for the beginners chase. However they hadn't reckoned with Paul Carberry's persistence in the plate as he was back in front after two out before going on to beat Swift Counsel by five lengths.

This win was completing an across the card double for the in-form Noel Meade, who also had a winner at the Curragh courtesy of Silverhand

Carberry commented: "He was a bit sticky at one or two but that probably helped him in the end to get home. He was looking around him a fair bit too."
