After race at Cork Fri, 21st Apr, 2023 (1st)
I told Jessica that she was riding very passively and said no matter what the result, to ride positively. Her best ride was on a John McConnell-trained horse last week and I rang her and told her to start taking things into her own hands and to stop coming late. I think she learned again today. the mare hadn't ran in a long time and we had her fresh but the change in tactics woke her up. Whatever it is, horses run for Jessica and her dad Anthony works for me, led up the horse, so it is brilliant.

we thought she'd win in Cork but was beaten on the line and stumbled the last day leaving the stalls in Gowran. She stayed on and on and on today, we couldn't believe it actually because coming down the back, she was so far off the pace. Once she gets going she is so genuine and we think she could go a little further. That's her first win on the grass.

Jessica started off with us riding ponies and that's how her father Anthony got friendly with me. She used to come and ride her pony every day and then she wanted to go and progress, but we have all national hunt horses so they weren't really suitable. We got her in R.A.C.E. and then she got into Kevin's (Prendergast) and she loves it. I'm so delighted for her now. Anthony helps me out in the stables and we were looking for a horse for Jessica to ride. we went looking to find something that would suit to get her on the road again and we were very lucky as this mare didn't sell at the sales recently and we bought her afterwards. She had won off a higher mark before, Kevin thought she was a bit short and in fairness I would have no experience on the Flat, so we have to thank Kevin. If we never have another result we'll remember this one. It was just nice the way it turned out.

We're absolutely delighted, it's Jessica's first ride on the track and she's riding for the boss so it's a great start to her career. Hopefully it'll be one of many. The filly likes the track and Jessica gave her a great ride. She was under strict instructions to look the part and hopefully she did. The boss is absolutely delighted that he was able to give her a good start.
