He's in good form, he seems to have improved and is at his best this year. In fairness to the handicapper, he did give me a chance after winning the last day. I went up in grade, but I think the key to him was the drop of rain we got all day here, he got his toe in. It's good to get a winner on the big stage. My owners Helena and Matty O'Toole have been very patient since the day they bought him. If I could have a couple of owners like them that's all anybody would want.

We were expecting it. In Killarney the last day he was just brought wide at the wrong time and had three or four lengths to make up. He was only beaten half-a-length in the end and so we were just unlucky there. He was in on Wednesday at Limerick where it was good to firm but turned out soft. I was wondering did we do the wrong thing after that, but it worked out anyway. . He runs well around Gowran Park and he deserved it as he has been running well this year. Rory has him off to a tee and it was good that he was free to ride. . He is better than ever this year and hasn't had a bad run. He is improving with age, like myself!

That was nice. We were a bit disappointed with the run in Galway but he got hampered at the wrong time there when a horse bumped into him at the bottom of the hill,. Luckily enough I had him declared for here and we were very happy with him the next morning when we gave him a bit of a canter. He was very well in himself and we were very happy to come here with him. He's entered for Tipperary on Friday and if we get a bit of cut in the ground and everything is okay we might go there. We've been looking for a cut in the ground all year. The last few times he ran well, finishing fourth, he continued to be dropped a few pounds. Unless it's a three-year-old it is hard to get a horse rated between 65 and 73 into races. We've been struggling to get into a race with him.

He was badly hampered in Listowel the last day and he probably wants the ground that bit softer, which we had today. I was delighted when I saw puddles of water coming down and we stepped him up to the mile with cheek-pieces on so it all helped. There are one or two options coming up soon and if we have soft ground, we'll run. He didn't have many runs this year as he had a small injury and I didn't rush him back. He is a good type of horse and it paid off that we had patience. The owners, (ex-trainer) Matty and Helena O'Toole, from Galway, have great patience and left it to myself.

To get two in the one week is great, after waiting so long for one. I'm delighted with him and he has improved since his last run at Leopardstown, hopefully he'll improve again from that. Rory got a good feel from him at Leopardstown and he seems to be progressing, and going the right way. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him now and we can have another day out of him. I'll have a chat with Helena and Matty O'Toole that own him and we'll see what there is now. I can't imagine he'll come back for a couple of weeks.
