Listowel rider Gearoid Brouder was thrilled to get a first winner at his local track when successful aboard Ramiro in the David McManus Bookmaker Handicap.

His brother Kevin won here on Monday on 125/1 shot Le Figaro Faoudel, for local handler Eoin McCarthy.

It was another Kerry trainer, Ian O’Connor, that supplied the victor this afternoon, in the Frank Harty-owned Ramiro (3/1 second favourite).

Successful twenty seven days back at the Curragh, the successful Born To Sea gelding is now two from two for current connections.

Despite edging away to his right, the progressive four-year-old was able to see off Kodiac Prince and Dragon Of Malta by half a length and three parts of a length.

Glenbeigh-based O’Connor said: “I was confident enough coming here as we took him to the Curragh on Saturday and he done a very good bit of work for Gearoid.

“He loves the ground and we’ll see what the handicapper gives him now. I think he’s a horse we are going to have plenty of fun with.”

G.M. Ryan, rider of Tresorier (GB) trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly right throughout.

G.P. Brouder, rider of Ramiro trained by Ian O'Connor, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly right in the straight.

S.M. Crosse, rider of Dragon Of Malta trained by P.F.O'Donnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was carried over to the stand side in the latter stages of this race.

The Stewards enquired into incidents in the straight involving Mean Fomhair ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, Ramiro, ridden by G.P. Brouder, placed first and Dragon Of Malta, ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed third, where it appeared Mean Fomhair was short of room early in the straight and later on Dragon of Malta may have been carried to the right by Ramiro. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.
