The winner Getastar (IRE), did not enter the Winner’s Enclosure on Veterinary advice.
An enquiry was held to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Overtougeorge (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Phillip Armson, which had jumped a section of dolled off railings inside a birch upright after the first fence rounding the bend turning away from the stands on the first circuit.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Having heard his evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Overtougeorge (GB) had ducked sharply left-handed jumping through the dolled off railing.
As the dolled off railing was intended to preserve ground and keep the runners off the inside of the track, he had not taken the wrong course, nor had he gained any advantage.
The Stewards noted his explanation.
Following the race, the representative of Ben Pauling reported that ARTEMISSION, unplaced, had a breathing problem.
Phillip Armson reported that Overtougeorge (GB), placed sixth, hung left-handed throughout.
The Veterinary Officer reported that the winner, Getastar (IRE), finished lame on its right- fore.
