Permission was given for Gentleman Moore (IRE) to go early to post.
Jumping the fourth last fence, Orsino (IRE), unplaced, shifted right-handed making contact with Royal Chant (IRE), on landing, causing the gelding to fall, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Orsino (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Gentleman Moore (IRE) which had refused to race.
Natalie Lloyd-Beavis was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As the gelding had also refused to race at Uttoxeter on 25 September 2020, the trainer was informed that any future similar behaviour from Gentleman Moore (IRE) may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
The gelding was deemed to be a runner.
The winner, Caro Des Flos (FR) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Worcester on 12 June 2021 where the gelding finished seventh of fifteen, beaten by 35½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Julian Smith could offer no explanation for Caro Des Flos (IRE)’s improved form other than the gelding may have benefited from being ridden more handily on this occasion combined with the removal of the cross noseband.
Caro Des Flos (FR) was routine tested.
