Permission was given for Glen Forsa (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Cool Mix (GB) kicked and collided with the railings when leaving the parade ring.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Tom O’Brien, the rider of the winner, Kalooki (GER), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip without time to respond from after jumping the final fence.
The winner, Kalooki (GER), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newbury on 27 November 2021 where the gelding finished seventh of thirteen runners, beaten by 37 ½ lengths.
The representative of Philip Hobbs explained that Kalooki (GER) had appreciated the easier surface today, officially described as Soft, Good to Soft in places.
He added that the gelding had also jumped with more fluency on this occasion.
His comments were noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Cool Mix (GB), placed third, lost its left-fore shoe and that Oscar Robertson (IRE), which was pulled up, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing, failed to reveal an abnormalities.
