Sawbuck delivers at 300/1 for O'Dwyers
He’s been in great form at home and, after his last two runs over hurdles, I came here thinking if he could finish somewhere in the middle of them I would have been delighted. The minute the flag dropped he travelled great and I couldn’t fault him anywhere. He just got a bit close to the last but he’s done it fairly handily enough. He likes that ground and is Flat bred and has run in Dundalk. The ground isn’t a problem for him.

Unanswered makes it three in a row
He’s a galloper and it took him time to get going, same as the Flat. He does his best work in the last couple of furlongs. He’s bred to barely get it but he did finish out real well. They really quickened down the back and just caught him a bit flat-footed. His strong point was his jumping which was excellent. He’ll mix it and hopefully we can keep him in the one piece.

Lucy Van Pelt digs deep to score at 25/1
She’s well bred, a half-sister to The Last Samuri, and I knew she’d stay. She was making a noise and I got her wind done. At that level she is a grand fun mare. She got a bad fall in Galway and her jumping was bad after that. She just wasn’t confident but seems to be back on the right track. She’s owned by Patrick (McCann, Racing Post photographer) and my wife (Caroline Woods). We might go down the cross country route with her but we’ll see what Patrick wants to do.

Tyre Kicker relishes step up to three miles
It was a lovely ride by Keith. It looked to me like they got racing very early and he just got there in the nick of time. He looked flat out all the way. It’s his first time over that trip. He could do with slower ground and we’ll probably put him away for a while.

Scallan opens account as Slevin doubles up
That’s my first winner on the track. She’s a grand mare and will tip away for the summer and hopefully pick up another one. She jumps and stays and chasing is probably going to be her game. I train in Cleariestown in south Wexford. I have three for the track this summer but they are mostly point-to-pointers.
